The Forum
A place for gathering, learning and sharing wisdom.
Let’s Get Together.
The Monthly Forum has been held at The Bronx Museum of the Arts since 2013, bringing approximately 100 seniors together every second Thursday of the month from 10am to 12 noon.
The Forum is family oriented and breakfast and lunch is served. These monthly meetings are vital to giving our seniors a voice in their community.
Seniors are given the opportunity to socialize and learn about healthy eating and healthy living which is essential to their wellbeing.
Guest panelists and experts from public and private sectors volunteer their time to educate and provide resources for our senior members.
We give a survey annually to assess the needs of the members. At the end of each Forum seniors are given the opportunity to ask the Speaker questions and to comment on the content of the Forum.
In furthering our efforts to bridge the gap, the months of July and August are dedicated solely to programs designed specifically towards senior and youth interactions. Historically we have had great success in this endeavor:
During the summer the seniors and the youth engage in dialogue on many topics, some of which are the importance of higher education. In the spring, we host our Mentoring Program that offers teens ages 13 to 19 one-on-one interaction with professionals, some of which we recruit from our monthly forum. This event takes place at the MetroTech Center at Mercy College in the Bronx. In the spring
Our programs are developed to be duplicated throughout New York, the tri-state area and beyond.
