PRAYER OF LOVE AND PEACE

Two Theatrical Performances: NASAKI MIRACLE and the FIREFIGHTERS

NAGASAKI MIRACLE, THEN AND NOW

In 1962, Rie an injured Japanese girl searched for refuge in the aftermath of the atomic bomb and experienced a magical encounter with Naomi, an American girl who dreams.

The play is set in the present day and opens with two college students on summer break visiting the city of Nagasaki. They run into a woman named Rie. Through Rie’s power, the connection between Naomi, the two college students, and Rie linked them back to the days of the Virgin Mary.

The IAPG will take the audience on a journey through the Edo era when the Japanese government was ruled by the Shogunate, a time when the practice of Christianity was forbidden. The drama started after a group called the “Hidden Christianity” fled Japan and found shelter in a Buddhist camp in the city of Nagasaki, where they were caught by Shogunate worshipping an image of the Virgin Mary.

THE FIREFIGHTERS

In 2014, a Japanese woman, Rie, came to New York City to visit her niece, Maria.  Rie decided to tour the 911 memorial site and came across a historical church. The story of love beyond time begins when five firemen who died during the bombing of the World Trade Center chose Rie to convey messages to their families.

Both performances include dance performances, chorus, Japanese Taiko drums, and visual art.

LITTLE GIRL WHO DREAMS

Written by Evern G. Randolph
